Assignment - Infographics - 124
These instructions serve as general guidelines. Adapt them as needed to suit the specific requirements of the task or creative vision. Avoid following them rigidly without considering the context.
Objective
Create a checklist infographic in Canva that lists the warning signs of online scams and tells readers exactly what to do when they spot each one.
Instructions
Red Flags to Include
Present each warning sign as a checklist item with a red flag icon and a one-line action step:
- The message is from an unknown number or address. Action: Do not reply until you have verified who it is.
- It asks for your OTP, password, or bank details. Action: Stop immediately. No legitimate organization asks for these by message or call.
- It promises an unexpected prize, gift, or large sum of money. Action: Ignore and delete. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.
- It creates urgency: “Act now,” “Your account will be blocked,” “Only 10 minutes left.” Action: Slow down. Scammers want you to panic. Take your time and verify first.
- The link address has spelling errors or an unusual domain. Action: Do not click. Go to the organization’s official website directly by typing the address yourself.
- A caller claims to be from your bank and asks you to confirm your card number. Action: Hang up. Call your bank directly using the number on the back of your card.
- A WhatsApp message forwards a “shocking news” story or a free offer. Action: Verify through a reliable news source before believing or sharing it.
- A job offer asks for a registration or processing fee before hiring. Action: Legitimate employers do not charge you to apply. This is a scam.
What to Do If You Think You Have Been Scammed
Add a separate box with steps:
- Do not send any more money or information.
- Change your passwords immediately.
- Tell a trusted adult or family member.
- Report to FIA Cybercrime Wing (Pakistan): [email protected] or call 1991.
Design in Canva
- Checklist format with a red flag or warning icon for each item.
- Two columns: “Warning Sign” and “What to Do.”
- Use red and white as the main colors.
- The “What to Do If Scammed” box at the bottom in a contrasting color.
Required Elements
- At least 7 warning signs with action steps.
- A “What to Do If Scammed” box with the FIA Cybercrime contact.
- Title: “Warning Signs of Online Scams.”
