Assignment - Infographics - 122

These instructions serve as general guidelines. Adapt them as needed to suit the specific requirements of the task or creative vision. Avoid following them rigidly without considering the context.

Objective

Create a concept map in Canva that maps what it means to be a responsible digital citizen, covering the key areas students and teachers need to understand when using the internet and digital devices.

Instructions

Central Concept

Place “Digital Citizenship” at the center.

Main Branches

  • Online Safety:

    • Use strong, unique passwords for each account.
    • Enable two-factor authentication.
    • Do not share personal information (home address, phone number, school name) with strangers online.
    • Know what to do if you feel unsafe: tell a trusted adult, block and report.
  • Responsible Use:

    • Use screen time intentionally - set limits for social media and entertainment.
    • Do not use devices in ways that distract from studying or prayer.
    • Follow your school’s rules on phone and device use.
  • Digital Communication:

    • Be respectful in messages, comments, and online groups.
    • Cyberbullying - sending hurtful messages, spreading rumors, or sharing private images - is harmful and can be illegal.
    • Think before you post: would you be comfortable if your teacher or parent saw this?
  • Privacy:

    • Whatever you post online can be shared further, even after deletion.
    • Apps and websites collect your data. Read privacy settings and limit what is shared.
    • Protect others’ privacy too: do not share photos or information about others without their permission.
  • Copyright and Plagiarism:

    • Images, music, and text found online belong to someone. Using them without credit is plagiarism.
    • Use Creative Commons or free-to-use resources, or credit the original creator.
  • Identifying Fake News:

    • Check whether multiple reliable sources report the same story.
    • Look at the website’s domain and author credentials.
    • Be careful with forwarded WhatsApp messages - verify before sharing.

Design in Canva

  • Six branches from the center, each in a distinct color.
  • Each branch has three to four specific sub-nodes.
  • Add relevant icons (a padlock for safety, a speech bubble for communication, a shield for privacy).

Required Elements

  • All six branches with at least 3 sub-nodes each.
  • Icons on main branch nodes.
  • Title: “Digital Citizenship.”
