Objective

Create a categorized infographic in Canva that covers the four main types of pollution, with causes, health and environmental effects, and examples relevant to Pakistan.

Instructions

Four Sections - One Per Pollution Type

Air Pollution

• Causes: vehicle exhaust, factory emissions, open burning of garbage, generator fumes, construction dust
• Effects: respiratory disease (asthma, bronchitis), smog, reduced visibility, climate change
• Local example: Karachi’s air quality is frequently among the worst in major Asian cities due to traffic, industry, and generator use

Water Pollution

• Causes: industrial waste dumped into rivers, untreated sewage, plastic waste, agricultural runoff (pesticides and fertilizers)
• Effects: contaminated drinking water, skin and stomach diseases, death of aquatic life
• Local example: Lyari River and Hub River receive untreated industrial and sewage discharge

Soil Pollution

• Causes: plastic and solid waste dumping, overuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, industrial waste disposal
• Effects: reduced soil fertility, contamination of crops, groundwater pollution
• Local example: open dumping sites in many areas of Karachi, particularly near low-income neighborhoods

Noise Pollution

• Causes: heavy traffic, construction, loudspeakers, industrial machinery, wedding events in residential areas
• Effects: hearing loss, sleep disruption, stress and anxiety, reduced concentration in students
• Local example: traffic congestion on main roads during rush hours; generator noise in load-shedding areas

Design in Canva

• Four equal panels or quadrants, one per pollution type.
• Each panel: a title, a relevant icon, causes listed as brief bullet points, effects listed, and one local example.
• Use distinct colors for each type: grey for air, blue for water, brown for soil, orange for noise.
