Objective
Create an infographic in Canva that presents the Five Pillars of Islam clearly, with one panel per pillar showing its name, what it requires, and a reference from the Quran or Hadith.
Instructions
The Five Pillars
Design one panel for each pillar:
Shahada (Declaration of Faith)
- “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad (ﷺ) is His messenger.”
- The foundation of a Muslim’s identity.
- Reference: Surah Al-Baqarah (2:255), known as Ayat ul-Kursi, affirms the oneness of Allah.
Salah (Prayer)
- Five daily prayers: Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha.
- Performed facing the Qiblah (Kaaba in Makkah).
- Reference: Surah Al-Baqarah (2:43): “And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow.”
Zakat (Obligatory Charity)
- 2.5% of accumulated wealth given annually to those in need.
- Obligatory for Muslims who meet the nisab (minimum wealth threshold).
- Reference: Surah Al-Baqarah (2:177).
Sawm (Fasting)
- Fasting from dawn to sunset throughout the month of Ramadan.
- Abstaining from food, drink, and sinful behavior.
- Reference: Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183): “O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you.”
Hajj (Pilgrimage)
- Pilgrimage to Makkah once in a lifetime, for those who are able.
- Performed in the month of Dhul Hijjah.
- Reference: Surah Al-Imran (3:97).
Design in Canva
- Five panels arranged in a row or grid, one per pillar.
- Each panel: an icon representing the pillar, the pillar name in Arabic and English, a two-sentence description, and the reference.
- Use green and gold as the main colors.
- Keep the layout clean - do not crowd the panels with text.
Required Elements
- All five pillars, each in its own panel.
- Arabic name and English translation for each.
- Icon and Quranic or Hadith reference for each pillar.
- Title: “The Five Pillars of Islam.”
