Assignment - Infographics - 103
These instructions serve as general guidelines. Adapt them as needed to suit the specific requirements of the task or creative vision. Avoid following them rigidly without considering the context.
Objective
Create a tips infographic in Canva for primary school teachers on how to create classroom rules that students actually follow.
Instructions
Content to Cover
Include the following tips, each with a short explanation and an icon:
- Involve students - Rules made together are followed more willingly. Ask students: “What do we need to learn well together?”
- Keep rules positive - Write what students should do, not what they should not. “Listen when others speak” works better than “Don’t talk out of turn.”
- Limit to five or six rules - Too many rules are hard to remember. Focus on the most important behaviors.
- Use simple language - Rules should be readable by the youngest students in the class.
- Display rules visually - Post them at eye level with an icon next to each rule so non-readers can follow along.
- Review rules regularly - Revisit them at the start of each term, or when a rule is being broken repeatedly.
- Tie rules to values - Each rule should connect to a reason: “We listen because everyone deserves to be heard.”
Sample Rules to Include
Show a sample set of five classroom rules to illustrate what good rules look like:
- We listen when someone is speaking.
- We keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
- We take care of our classroom and materials.
- We try our best even when something is difficult.
- We treat everyone with respect.
Design in Canva
- Use a bright, welcoming color palette suitable for a primary classroom.
- Each tip gets its own panel with a bold icon and a short heading.
- Display the sample rules in a separate box or banner.
Required Elements
- At least 6 tips with icons and brief explanations.
- A sample set of classroom rules.
- Title: “Designing Classroom Rules for Primary Students.”
