Assignment - Infographics - 102
These instructions serve as general guidelines. Adapt them as needed to suit the specific requirements of the task or creative vision. Avoid following them rigidly without considering the context.
Objective
Create a comparison infographic in Canva that places fixed mindset and growth mindset side by side, showing how each one shapes a student’s thinking, behavior, and results.
Instructions
Structure
Divide your infographic into two columns: Fixed Mindset on the left, Growth Mindset on the right. Use a central divider with a shared row of categories running down the middle.
Compare the two across these categories:
- Core Belief: “Intelligence is fixed - you either have it or you don’t” vs. “Ability develops through effort and practice.”
- Response to Failure: “I give up - this proves I’m not smart” vs. “I need a different approach - this is how I learn.”
- Response to Challenge: “I avoid it - I don’t want to look stupid” vs. “I take it on - hard things help me grow.”
- Feedback: “I ignore or resent criticism” vs. “I use feedback to improve.”
- Effort: “If I have to try hard, I must not be talented” vs. “Effort is what builds skill.”
- Classroom Language: “I can’t do this” vs. “I can’t do this yet.”
- Long-Term Outcome: “Plateau and stagnation” vs. “Continued improvement.”
Design in Canva
- Use two contrasting colors: a muted or cool color for fixed mindset, a warm or bright color for growth mindset.
- Add a small icon or illustration for each row (a wall for fixed, a plant growing for growth).
- Keep each cell brief - one sentence or a short phrase.
- Use a bold dividing line or central column for the category labels.
Required Elements
- At least 6 comparison categories.
- Fixed and growth mindset columns clearly labeled.
- Visual contrast between the two sides.
- Title: “Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset.”
