Assignment - Infographics - 090
These instructions serve as general guidelines. Adapt them as needed to suit the specific requirements of the task or creative vision. Avoid following them rigidly without considering the context.
Objective
Create a concept map in Canva that maps the organs of the human digestive system, what each one does, and how food moves through the body from mouth to waste.
Instructions
Central Concept
Place “Human Digestive System” at the center.
Main Branches - One Per Organ
Organize your map by organ, in the order food travels:
- Mouth: Mechanical digestion through chewing; saliva begins breaking down starch (enzyme: amylase)
- Esophagus: Muscular tube that moves food to the stomach via peristalsis (wave-like contractions)
- Stomach: Churns food into a paste; hydrochloric acid kills bacteria; pepsin breaks down protein
- Small Intestine: Main site of digestion and absorption; enzymes from the pancreas and bile from the liver complete digestion; villi absorb nutrients into the blood
- Large Intestine: Absorbs water from remaining material; forms solid waste
- Liver: Produces bile, which breaks down fats in the small intestine
- Pancreas: Produces digestive enzymes (lipase for fats, protease for protein, amylase for starch) and sends them to the small intestine
Design in Canva
- Arrange the organs in the order food passes through them, either clockwise or top to bottom.
- Highlight the key enzyme or function in a colored tag on each branch.
- Add a simple body outline showing approximate organ positions.
Required Elements
- All 7 organs listed above.
- Function of each organ clearly stated.
- At least one enzyme named for each relevant organ.
- Title: “Human Digestive System.”
