Assignment - Infographics - 089

These instructions serve as general guidelines. Adapt them as needed to suit the specific requirements of the task or creative vision. Avoid following them rigidly without considering the context.

Objective

Create a concept map in Canva that explains photosynthesis - the process plants use to make food - showing its inputs, outputs, location, and the equation.

Instructions

Central Concept

Place “Photosynthesis” at the center.

Main Branches

  • Definition: The process by which plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to produce glucose and oxygen.

  • Inputs:

    • Sunlight (energy source)
    • Carbon dioxide (CO₂) absorbed from the air through stomata
    • Water (H₂O) absorbed through the roots
  • Outputs:

    • Glucose (C₆H₁₂O₆) - stored as chemical energy for the plant
    • Oxygen (O₂) - released into the air
  • Location in the Plant:

    • Takes place in chloroplasts
    • Found mainly in leaf cells
    • Chlorophyll (the green pigment in chloroplasts) absorbs sunlight
  • The Equation:

    • 6CO₂ + 6H₂O + light energy → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂
  • Why It Matters:

    • Produces food for the plant
    • Releases the oxygen that animals and humans breathe
    • Forms the base of most food chains

Design in Canva

  • Place the equation in a prominent box at the top or bottom of the map.
  • Use green as the main color to match the plant theme.
  • Add a simple leaf diagram showing where chloroplasts are located.
  • Use arrows to show the flow: inputs entering the leaf, outputs leaving it.

Required Elements

  • Inputs, outputs, and location as separate branches.
  • The photosynthesis equation clearly shown.
  • A leaf diagram or icon.
  • Title: “Photosynthesis.”
