Aspect 6: Teacher Professional Learning
Cheat Sheet
- This aspect is about how a teacher keeps learning over time.
- Skills age fast, so ongoing learning is part of the job.
- Digital Literacy: build your own basic technology skills.
- Networking: learn with and from other teachers.
- Teacher as Innovator: lead, research, and create new practice.
What This Aspect Is
This aspect is about a teacher’s own continued learning. Tools and methods change, so the skills that work today will not be enough in a few years. It covers how a teacher keeps building their ability, connects with others, and eventually leads new practice.
🌱
No single training course lasts a whole career.
UNESCO treats this as a competency because a teacher who stops learning falls behind, and the students pay for it. A teacher who keeps growing stays useful and can help others do the same.
This aspect closes the framework on purpose: it is the engine that keeps every other aspect moving forward.
