Limitations of Blended Learning
Limits of blended learning:
- Access to technology
- Teacher training
- Balancing classroom and online
Blended learning has clear benefits, but it does not work the same for every learner or every school. Here are the main limits to keep in mind.
Access to Technology
Not every student has a computer or a stable internet connection at home. When the online part of a course needs a device that a learner does not have, that learner falls behind, even when they work hard in class.
Teacher Training
The online part does not run itself. Teachers need to learn how to pick the right tools, set up activities, and guide learners through them. A teacher who has never used an online platform cannot blend it into a lesson well.
The online part needs a teacher who knows how to use it.
Picking tools, setting up activities, and guiding learners all take skill.
Without training, the online part is added but not used well.
Balancing Classroom and Online
Finding the right mix of face-to-face and online work takes time and care. Too much online study loses the support of the classroom. Too little wastes the flexibility that blended learning is meant to add.
These limits do not mean blended learning is weak. They show where it needs support: fair access for every learner, trained teachers, and a careful mix of classroom and online work.
