Teachers do not have to build it, but they do have to search through it, judge what is useful, adapt it to their setting, and then give students real chances to use it.
The remedy is not lower standards but more ways into the same material.

A Careful Look at Learning Styles
Teachers have long noticed that students seem to take in information differently. A 2008 article in Education Week examined this idea, describing learners often sorted into types: visual learners who prefer to see, auditory learners who prefer to hear, and kinesthetic or tactile learners who prefer to write things down or move while working. Designing lessons that reach more than one of these at once is sensible practice.
There is a catch worth stating plainly. The popular version of “learning styles,” where each child has one fixed style and learns best only when teaching matches it, is not well supported by evidence. Studies that test the idea rarely find that matching a lesson to a student’s supposed style improves how much they learn. The useful reading is the softer one: a mix of visual, spoken, and hands-on activity keeps more students engaged and gives everyone more than one way into the material. Treat learning styles as a prompt to vary your lessons, not as a label to pin on a child.
