It is easy to fall for a new tool and build a lesson around it. Reform for technology asks for the opposite order: decide what students need to learn first, then pick the tool that serves it, if any tool does.
Let the Content Choose the Tool
Curriculum content comes first. Technology cannot do the teaching for you, because the concept, skill, or knowledge still has to reach the student. The order that works is to decide what you want to teach, think about how you would teach it in a traditional class, and only then ask whether a tool could do it better. An animation, a chart, a graph, or a practice activity might help, and the teacher chooses among them with the learning goal in mind.
A new tool can sometimes inspire a good project, but strong curriculum content should still drive the design. The risk is building a project around an exciting tool that carries little real learning value. Starting the planning from educational needs and instructional goals keeps a project on track.

The Slide Trap
A common example is the presentation slide. Many teachers fill each slide with full sentences and then read them aloud. That is just the board written out in advance, not a good use of the tool. A slide works better with very little text and with animations, diagrams, charts, and images that help students understand the idea without a wall of words.
The habit spreads to students too. When teachers ask learners to build slides and the learners copy the read-aloud style, they pick up the wrong lesson about the tool. Seeing teachers use slides well is part of how students learn to use technology well.

Technology Across Every Subject and Grade
A class that visits a computer lab once a week is not really technology education. To make it real, technology has to reach across grades and across subjects, which usually means changing the timetable and how the school makes devices available. That is a bigger job than adding one lesson.
Using any new tool carries some overhead. Students have to pick up keyboarding, learn how to open programs and files, and learn to save and retrieve their work, and a computer task often will not finish in a single period. The more classes and grades share that overhead, the smaller it feels in any one subject.

Spreading technology widely also changes how students feel about it. When many classes use it, more students find uses they enjoy and grow confident with the tools. If only one subject uses technology, and a skilled teacher makes it appealing, students may lose interest in the other subjects still taught the old way.
The cost of all this varies from school to school. It depends on the kind of technology chosen, the number of students, and any major infrastructure work, such as wiring and structural changes. Many older buildings are not wired for heavy technology use, so the electrical work alone can shape what a school can realistically do.
