Hands-On Methods for Environmental Education

Environmental learning works best when children get out of their seats and in front of the real thing. This chapter collects hands-on methods for teaching it: visual techniques like mapping and modeling, community tours with a clear purpose, templates for participatory design, ways to measure and rate what children find, focus groups that give them a voice, and approaches that turn children into leaders of climate action in their own communities.
