Gender Equity

Across many school systems, a girl is less likely than a boy to be enrolled, to stay to the end, and to leave able to read and write. This chapter looks at where the gap opens: in the supply of schools and teachers, in the enrollment and literacy figures, and in the household pressures that decide which child is sent to class.
