Integrating Technology, Not Just Adding It

Buying devices or building a lab and calling it done. Presence is not integration.

Teachers comfortable enough with the tools to weave them into the curriculum and let students use them.

Teachers plan together by subject: which topics, where technology fits, which applications, how much time.
The group size
Small works. Five or six teachers get further than a room of twenty.
Most teachers today did not grow up with the devices their students carry. That gap is real, but it does not mean the classroom has to wait. The harder truth is that the technology itself is the cheap part. Turning it into learning is the work, and that work is mostly planning, not purchasing.
Adding Is Not Integrating
A school can buy computers, set up a lab, and place a device in every room, and still change very little. Equipment on its own does not shift how a subject is taught. Integration means something different: teachers grow comfortable enough with the tools to fold them into the curriculum and to let students use them for real tasks.
The difference is whether the tool sits idle as furniture or does a job inside a planned lesson.
Adding puts devices in the building; integrating puts them to work in lessons.

One Teacher Cannot Do It Alone
Working out where technology fits, which applications to use, and how much class time to give it is heavy work for one person. A teacher planning alone tends to stall. The reliable path is collaboration: teachers of the same subject sitting down together to design it.
What a Planning Group Decides
A subject group works through a short, practical list. They name the topics they will cover, then decide where and how a technology component fits each one. From there they choose which applications or software to use and how much time to set aside.

The value of the list is that it forces specific choices. “Use technology more” is a slogan; “use this tool for this topic for this long” is a plan.
Keep the Group Small
Bigger is not better here. A crowd of ten or twenty tends to talk in circles and decide little. A group of five or six teachers can move through the planning and reach usable results. Small enough that everyone contributes, large enough to bring more than one perspective, is the sweet spot.

Kept small and focused on real choices, a subject group turns scattered devices into lessons that actually use them.
